The client's challenges and objectives

Apicil Epargne is the asset management branch of the Lyon-based insurer Apicil. The Apicil Group, a long-standing client of Novelis, is a French complementary social protection group, the 3rd largest in France.

Apicil’s ambition is to become the leader in France in the field of Life Insurance and to use technology and innovation as a lever to achieve this by offering a seamless path served by digital for both external and internal customers. This includes:

Becoming a hub and exposing its services in order to develop partnerships and provide a powerful platform for its sales force
Distributing its financial products through multiple channels
Developing and deploying all these new functionalities with a very fast time to market
Implementing a new application architecture that facilitates technical upgrades or migrations

Our achievements

We have been supporting our client in its strategy of urbanization, development and maintenance of its savings and life insurance tool since the beginning of our activities and this strategic project is still ongoing.

More recently, our client decided to modernize its system build and deployment chain in order to improve its processes and to be on a Cloud Ready architecture.

We support APICIL on this latest project to :

Design the new deployment architecture and define the application and hardware requirements
Adapt the application components for deployment in Docker containers

Set up the build chain with different environments (production, pre-production, several recipes)
Prepare and execute the failover plan

Where do we stand today? What actions have been implemented?

Reurbanization of our client’s IS
The entire project is conducted using Agile methodology
New functionalities put into production in 6-week cycles
A team (in rotation) dedicated to the MCO on each sprint: Hot Fixes when necessary

The business considers that the Apicil Epargne platform is at least 6 months in advance of the competitors.

Flexible deployment thanks to the Cloud Ready architecture
Considerable gain in terms of load and delay of the various operating actions including production start-ups
